Turkish Airlines 2015 Traffic Results - Really Globally Yours!


Turkish carrier Turkish Airlines has announced its traffic results for 2015. As in line with company's recent strategy, there has been significant increase in the traffic results according to the previous years.



1) The Turkish flag carrier has served more than 61 Million passengers in 2015. The amount the previous year was 55 Million roughly which stands for 12% increase in passenger traffic.

 This increase of the records in company's history. When we look at the details, we figure out that the increase consist of 16% domestic and 9% international flights. 

 The company's near vision is to be the global airline and targets to be one of the biggest airlines worldwide and their motto is "Globally Yours!". Having these result in international flights, the company persuaded us that the airline is very close to their goal. 

 The company announced many new flight routes in 2015 and this proves that the company's market research was very effective. The carries uses Istanbul Ataturk Airport as a hub and enjoys the connection passengers for the Africa, Middle East and East as well as the many domestic cities in Turkey.

 2) Turkish Airlines has focused on the many flight routes in America and South Africa. In 2015 has announced Miami route and had frequency increases in many points in America and Africa.  

 These long hauls flights are reflected on the company's traffic results since international Business/Comfort Class passengers increased by 6.5% in 2015.

 Additionally, the passenger numbers who used Turkish Airlines as bridge, which had international-to-international flights has been increased significantly as 18%. 

 The company has increased its number of destinations to 284 from 261 while number of domestic destinations increased from 43 to 49 and international destinations increased from 218 to 235.

 By the end of 2015, number of aircraft went up to 299 from 261. Number of wide body aircraft increased from 55 to 73, narrow body aircraft from 197 to 216 and cargo aircraft from 9 to 10.

 Turkish Airlines is very excited welcoming its 300th aircraft in the coming days. The 300th aircraft will be new brand Boeing 777-300 ER and will be wearing a special livery.

Turk Hava Yolları’ndan Yeni Boeing 777-300ER Hatları Türk Hava Yolları bugün itibariyle filosunda 23 adet Boeing 777-300 ER uçağa sahip ve 24’üncüsü olacak olan TC-JLE kuyruk numaralı uçak ise şu sıralarda teslimat hazır durumda ve Boeing’in yuvası Everett’de son kontrolleri yaplıyor. Havacılık tutkunlarının yakından tanıdığı ve takip ettiği Tanser Akıncı kaptanımız yine bir 777 teslimatı ile görevlendirildi. Kaptanımızın bu yılki ikinci 777 teslimatı ve 2015 yılı Aralık ayında da bazı teslimatları gerçekleştirmişti. Bu tescile sahip uçağın Türk Hva Yolları tarihinde ayrı bir yeri daha var. Aynı zamanda bu uçak THY’nin 300. Uçağı olma ünvanını taşıyacak. Bildiğiniz üzere, Katmandhu ve İstanbul’da geçtiğimiz yıl meydana gelen talihsiz kazalar nedeniyle 2 adet uçak filodan çıkarılmış ve 300. uçak konusunda yoğun tartışmalar yaşanmıştı. 300. uçağın özel bir livery sahip olması bekleniyordu ancak THY yönetiminden buna ilişkin bir haber gelmedi. Uçak Kanatçıkları... Neden gerekli oldukları, avantajları ve tasarım süreci.

  Uçak kanatçıkları…. Uçakların ve özellikle son yıllarda dizayn edilen uçakların kanatlarının ucunda küçük kıvrımlar görüyoruz. Bu kıvrımlar bazen kanat renginden farklı olabiliyor ve daha sonradan uçağın kanadına eklendiği netlikle anlaşılabiliyor. Uçak markalarının, hatta aynı markanın farklı modellerinde farklı kanatçıkları (winglets) görüyoruz. Peki bu kanatçıklar neden gerekli, ne gibi faydaları var, verimlilik için mi kullanılıyor yoksa kalkışta ve/veya seyirde uçak performansı yada uçuş güvenliğini artırması için mi kullanılıyor? Kanatçıklar tasarlanırken mühendislerin esin kaynağı neydi? Bu sorularının yanıtlarını gelin birlikte aramaya çalışalım… Winglet’ler neden gerekli? Bildiğimiz gibi uçakların uçabilmesi, uçağın kanadının altına ve üstüne uygulanan farklı basınçlar (kaldırma kuvveti) sayesinde   gerçekleşir. Winglets. Why airplanes need wingtips? Are they useful? Any disagvantages?

Winglets…. We often see small curves at the wings of the planes and especially of the planes designed in recent years. These curves can sometimes be different from the wing color and can be clearly understood to be added to the wing of the plane later on. We see different winglets in different models of airplane brands, even on the same brand. Are these fins necessary, if so what are the benefits? Are they being used for efficiency? Or are they being used to improve flight performance or drag performance on departure and / or cruising? What was the inspiration for the engineers when the fins were designed?
