Turkish Airlines to buy 35 new planes

Turkish Airlines to receive 35 new planes this year Turkish Airlines expecting 35 new aircraft this year, including 10 wide-body, both Airbus A330 and B773. An executive of the Airline, Ahmet Olmustur talked during a seminar and informed that the Turkish carrier aims to reach 450 aircraft by 2020. The airline currently has 311 aircraft including 78 wide-body aircrafts.  The airline wants to renew the fleet and to decrease the average age of its fleet.    "People want to fly with new aircraft so we plan to lower the age of our fleet," the executive said. And he added, Turkish Airlines expects to have 72.4 million passengers this year (2016), representing an 18% increase comparing to previous year. He also explained that in addition to their Star Alliance membership they are evaluating the opportunities especially in  Africa region such as codeshare agreements or acquisitions. Turkish Airlines, the Official Airline Partner for EURO 2016 takes off on its maiden flight to Paris.  To celebrate EURO 2016 this summer, Turkish Airlines has unveiled an A330-300 passenger aircraft painted in the competition’s livery. The plane undertook its maiden flight to Paris the location of this year’s final on 10th July, and is just one component of Turkish Airlines’ drive to excite fans ahead of this year’s tournament. The livery was created by UEFA and Turkish Airlines as part of airlines’ partnership with the competition and role as Official Airline Partner to Euro 2016. The plane wrapped in the EURO 2016 colours will fly to a selected number of destinations across the Turkish Airlines' network. The airline currently flies to more than 280 destinations. Fans of the plane and the competition can engage on social media with the hashtag; #eurointhesky.

Why Boeing 777-300 is very successful? Boeing 777-300 is one of the most successful aircraft series of Boeing in its history for sure. But what makes it the most demanded aircraft in wide body aircraft category? There are plenty of reasons behind it but I will try to highlight the main dynamics. Main figures: Before starting the analysis, let's take a look at the order and delivery figures and additionally which airlines and more specifically which regions over the world have been showing interest on the model.  As of March 2016, Boeing 777 (including all variances of the model) has 1.747 orders and 1.236 of it have been already delivered. It is very interesting that 70% of these 1.747 orders has been made by 16 airlines around the world.  The below given table indicates these airlines and their total orders as of March 2016, provided in Boeing's web page.
