Turkish Airlines to receive 35 new planes this year

Turkish Airlines expecting 35 new aircraft this year, including 10 wide-body, both Airbus A330 and B773. An executive of the Airline, Ahmet Olmustur talked during a seminar and informed that the Turkish carrier aims to reach 450 aircraft by 2020. The airline currently has 311 aircraft including 78 wide-body aircrafts. 

The airline wants to renew the fleet and to decrease the average age of its fleet. 
 
"People want to fly with new aircraft so we plan to lower the age of our fleet," the executive said. And he added, Turkish Airlines expects to have 72.4 million passengers this year (2016), representing an 18% increase comparing to previous year.


He also explained that in addition to their Star Alliance membership they are evaluating the opportunities especially in  Africa region such as codeshare agreements or acquisitions. Local media announced during the week that the airline has been in talk with Senegal government to acquire Senegal Airline. 

We are going to have new routes as well such as Bogota, Panama, Atlanta, Hanoi, Slovakia added Mr. Ahmet.

The national carrier of Turkey has many Boeing 773 and Airbus A333 awaiting from the global manufacturers.
