Singapore Airlines A350-900’s First Airborne!

Singapore Airline, Airbus and aviation enthusiasts are recently very excited about the airlines’ first Airbus, 350-900XWB’ maiden flight in Toulouse, France.

The aircraft will now enter the final phase of production, which includes additional ground checks and some remaining test flights. Singapore Airline is excited that they will receive their first A35-900 in the coming days.

According to the Airbus, the aircraft, featuring the airline’s iconic livery, will now enter the final production phase. The final production will cover further ground checks and test flights, before the delivery.

Singapore Airline has 67 A350 XWBs orders, which will be operated on long range flights, as well as on selected regional services. Seven of the aircraft will be delivered with an ultra-long range capability for flights of up to 19 hours, allowing the carrier to resume non-stop flights to the US.

The A350 XWB has the edge aerodynamic design, new carbon fiber fuselage and wings, plus new fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines which altogether makes Airbus A350s operational efficiency, with a 25% reduction in fuel burn and emissions, and significantly lower maintenance costs.

As of today, Airbus has near 800 A350 XWB orders from more than 40 customers worldwide.

On 14th October 2015, the first A350-900 for Singapore Airlines was revealed in the airline’s livery following completion of painting in Toulouse.

We are very much looking forward to the arrival of the new A350s which will be fitted with our newest-generation cabin products, providing more comfort to our customers. This includes new Business Class, Premium Economy Class and Economy Class seats, and the world’s most advanced in-flight entertainment system,” said Senior Vice President Marketing Planning, Ms Lee Wen Fen.

“Our investment in the A350s is in line with Singapore Airlines’ longstanding commitment to operate a young and modern fleet. The highly efficient new aircraft will offer us the potential to open new routes, enhancing our network and further strengthening the Singapore hub.”

We are excited to see another A350-900 takes the skies for a Singapore Airline livery.
