A321 NEO takes off for the first test flight!

Today is one of the milestones for Airbus. The company’s most famous aircraft Airbus A321Neo meets the clouds for the first time.

A321Noe is the newest next generation engined single-aisle aircraft.

Airbus announced that the aircraft will airborne with 5 cabin crew and will be flying 5 and half an hour and it will undertake a "partial" flight-test program to examine specific aspects associated with the larger type's performance.

The new aircraft has CFM International Leap-1A engines and the new engines performance will be tested. Airbus will also test Pratt & Whitney engines in the following weeks. There is a intense competition between CFM and P&W.

 

CFM seems very ambitious. The company claims that the CFM engines for A320 family aircraft will have a start-up time for 50 seconds which will significantly contribute the fuel efficiency. 


As you may recall, Airbus delayed entry into service of the A320neo one month for Qatar Airways.



The deliveries of A321Neo is scheduled for the end of 2016. A321 offers 20% decrease on fuel consumption.

The brand-new A321 will carry more than 220 passengers on board thanks to the Neo engines and slimmed cabin interiors. Slimmed cabin interiors will enable the A321 to gave additional 16 seats.

Turk Hava Yolları’ndan Yeni Boeing 777-300ER Hatları Türk Hava Yolları bugün itibariyle filosunda 23 adet Boeing 777-300 ER uçağa sahip ve 24’üncüsü olacak olan TC-JLE kuyruk numaralı uçak ise şu sıralarda teslimat hazır durumda ve Boeing’in yuvası Everett’de son kontrolleri yaplıyor. Havacılık tutkunlarının yakından tanıdığı ve takip ettiği Tanser Akıncı kaptanımız yine bir 777 teslimatı ile görevlendirildi. Kaptanımızın bu yılki ikinci 777 teslimatı ve 2015 yılı Aralık ayında da bazı teslimatları gerçekleştirmişti. Bu tescile sahip uçağın Türk Hva Yolları tarihinde ayrı bir yeri daha var. Aynı zamanda bu uçak THY’nin 300. Uçağı olma ünvanını taşıyacak. Bildiğiniz üzere, Katmandhu ve İstanbul’da geçtiğimiz yıl meydana gelen talihsiz kazalar nedeniyle 2 adet uçak filodan çıkarılmış ve 300. uçak konusunda yoğun tartışmalar yaşanmıştı. 300. uçağın özel bir livery sahip olması bekleniyordu ancak THY yönetiminden buna ilişkin bir haber gelmedi. Uçak Kanatçıkları... Neden gerekli oldukları, avantajları ve tasarım süreci.

  Uçak kanatçıkları…. Uçakların ve özellikle son yıllarda dizayn edilen uçakların kanatlarının ucunda küçük kıvrımlar görüyoruz. Bu kıvrımlar bazen kanat renginden farklı olabiliyor ve daha sonradan uçağın kanadına eklendiği netlikle anlaşılabiliyor. Uçak markalarının, hatta aynı markanın farklı modellerinde farklı kanatçıkları (winglets) görüyoruz. Peki bu kanatçıklar neden gerekli, ne gibi faydaları var, verimlilik için mi kullanılıyor yoksa kalkışta ve/veya seyirde uçak performansı yada uçuş güvenliğini artırması için mi kullanılıyor? Kanatçıklar tasarlanırken mühendislerin esin kaynağı neydi? Bu sorularının yanıtlarını gelin birlikte aramaya çalışalım… Winglet’ler neden gerekli? Bildiğimiz gibi uçakların uçabilmesi, uçağın kanadının altına ve üstüne uygulanan farklı basınçlar (kaldırma kuvveti) sayesinde   gerçekleşir. Winglets. Why airplanes need wingtips? Are they useful? Any disagvantages?

Winglets…. We often see small curves at the wings of the planes and especially of the planes designed in recent years. These curves can sometimes be different from the wing color and can be clearly understood to be added to the wing of the plane later on. We see different winglets in different models of airplane brands, even on the same brand. Are these fins necessary, if so what are the benefits? Are they being used for efficiency? Or are they being used to improve flight performance or drag performance on departure and / or cruising? What was the inspiration for the engineers when the fins were designed?
