Diversion due to heavy snow and then seeing fantastic scenery- Cappodocia
My flight from İstanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport to Nevsehir Airport (which is a small and a rare airport in Anatolia of Turkey) as a passenger created an unexpected experiences.
We have tried few times approached to the runway, however to due to heavy snow, wind and fog, we had to divert the alternative airport, Kayseri airport, 120 km far from the origin.
During the approach and short final, I had the chance to have a few pictures so that it is my pleasure to share them with you. I am sorry for the bad quality of the photos because I just took them via my mobile phone. I promise to show much better quality photos next time.
On the above picture, you are seeing the Kayseri Erciyes mountain which is the highest mountain in Anatolia, located within the the ancient of Cappadocia with its summit reaching 4.000 m (13.000 ft).
The aircraft we were flying was Airbus Neo a320-200 of Pegasus Airlines.
Pegasus Airlines has 66 aircrafts which consist of 9 Airbus 320-200 and 57 Boeing 737-800.
The executive board of Pegasus Airlines has decided to change their Boeing dominant filo with Airbus by ordering 100 Airbus new generation a320-200s.
This is the very critical milestones in the companies history. Since the airliner is the main low budget airline company of Turkey, it strategically moved to increased the companies efficiency and lower the operation costs.
Finally we reached to Nevşehir and I copy here a few picture from Nevsehir and Cappadoica. Please enjoy.
