Singapore Airlines' Boeing 777 catches fire on Changi Airport
Singapore Airlines' Boeing 777 had to U turn to Singapore due to an engine failure, caught fire shortly after it landed at Changi Airport on June 27.
There were no injuries, however Runway 2 where the plane landed was closed following the incident. Flight SQ368 with 222 passengers and 19 crew on board, departed Changi Airport Italy. Around 3 hours to the flight, the Boeing 777-300ER was forced to turn back after the pilot received an engine oil warning message.
The right wing and engine received severe damage. Runway 02C/20C remained closed for a couple of hours until the Boeing 777 was towed off the runway. Investigations by the Singapore accident investigation authority commenced.
