Photo: The Guardian

Qantas worst airline operating across Pacific

Qantas used the two most fuel-intensive aircraft and carried the most empty seats of any transpacific airline The Guardian informed that  Quantas is the worst airplane in terms of air pollution. Qantas emits more carbon dioxide per passenger-kilometre than any other airline operating across the Pacific, according to an analysis by the International Council on Clean Transportation, the group that exposed the Volkswagen emissions scandal in 2014 . For each kilometre Qantas transports a passenger across the Pacific, it uses 64% more fuel than the two most fuel-efficient airlines operating across the Pacific: Hainan Airlines and All Nippon Airways (ANA). One litre of aviation fuel was able to transport one passenger just 22km, on average, on Qantas flights, while Hainan and ANA were able to take a passenger 36km on 1L of fuel. The wide variation between airlines provides a stark contrast to the industry’s aspirational goal of improving fuel efficiency of internati...

Turkish Airlines started growing again

Resim
It has not been too long that Turkish Airlines had very difficult times economically and had to ground some single-aisle and wide body aircrafts in Turkey due to many difficult times such as terror attacks, coup attempt, issues on Syria border etc. These all came just after the Airlines decided to invest heavily for future and making many wide body orders to both Boeing and Airbus. According to Times Magazine, “when Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport was struck by bombers in June, even transit passengers started to avoid the country. The result was that 9m fewer people travelled with Turkish in 2016 than was originally expected, dragging the flag-carrier to its first annual loss in recent memory”. The airline management had many actions to at least postpone the crisis. First of all they postponed some orders and changed some Boeing 777 passenger aircrafts to cargo aircrafts. Consequently and luckily the cargo fleet has been working very effectively and helping the income state...

Airbus A380 May Stop Production?

Resim
The world’s largest passenger aircraft, Airbus A380 informed that it would have to end production of the plane if its only major customer, Emirates, did not order more. Thanks to Emirates that Airbus can still keep the production of the new generation aircraft. Once Airbus A380 was first introduced we all agreed that this is the future of the aviation. However, the dream has not last so much. The airline companies were not big enough to effort and operate such giant aircraft. When considering the economic recessions, increase on fuel prices, crew strikes at many airlines etc, this result is not very surprising and a sad story.     Airbus’ COO spoke that “ the latest indication that Airbus miscalculated more than two decades ago when it bet that clogged runways would create demand for larger planes that could deliver more people with fewer landing slots. Instead, airlines bypassed the major hubs and ordered midsize planes that could fly directly between region...
